A six week programme of overnight resurfacing is set to begin across Stone in September.
The resurfacing forms the next phase of Staffordshire County Council’s wider highway improvement scheme in and around Stone town centre.
The initial phase focused on repairs to kerbs, footways and drainage, along with work at crossing points.
Work is due to begin on Monday 7 September and continue until Friday 16 October, with resurfacing taking place under full overnight road closures. In a letter sent to residents, the council has advised that the work will only happen on Monday to Thursday nights, with closures restricted to the hours of 8pm to 6am.
The roads impacted by the programme are:
• Crown Street
• Christchurch Way
• Station Road
• Stafford Street
• Newcastle Street
• Granville Square
• Northesk Street
• Longton Road
• Kings Avenue
• Radford Street
• Old Road
Residents and businesses on Radford Street have already received notification from Amey, which is carrying out the work with Staffordshire County Council.
The six week period covers the resurfacing programme across the scheme, rather than all of the roads being closed for the whole period.
Access to properties along the works will be maintained where possible, although Amey has warned there may be periods when this cannot be done safely. Signed diversion routes will be put in place during closures.
Drivers are also being asked not to park within areas where resurfacing is taking place.
