A fundraiser has been launched in support of Stone man James Tyne, with a three night luxury Staffordshire break for up to eight people up for grabs.
The latest Stand With James fundraiser follows James’s diagnosis with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in May.
His wife Sarah and the family have been raising money to help them explore evidence based treatment opportunities, specialist appointments and other options, as well as covering travel associated with James’s treatment.
Sarah and James have lived in Stone all their lives, attended schools in the town and raised their three sons locally.
The family’s latest fundraiser gives entrants the chance to win a three night stay at The Cow Shack, a holiday retreat at Bank Top Farm in the Staffordshire countryside.
The prize, described by the organisers as being worth more than £1,000, is for up to eight guests.
The accommodation has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, along with an open plan kitchen and living area, log burner and garden with seating and a barbecue.
Guests can also meet animals at the farm, including Longhorn cattle, goats, sheep, chickens, guinea pigs and rabbits.
The property is close to a number of Staffordshire attractions, including Alton Towers, Peak Wildlife Park and the Churnet Valley Railway.
Sarah said the family had been grateful for the support it had already received from people in and around Stone, but hoped the new fundraiser could reach an even wider audience.
She said
“We are determined to leave no Stone unturned when it comes to finding evidence based treatments for James, boost awareness of this terrible disease.”
Sarah says money raised through the campaign will help pay for evidence based treatment opportunities for James, private appointments and travel to treatment.
She added that a percentage of money raised through the raffle will also go to Pancreatic Cancer UK to support research into new drug development.
The wider Stand With James fundraising campaign has also been raising money towards molecular tumour profiling and other potential treatment opportunities for James. The family’s JustGiving appeal had raised more than £6,500 at the time of writing.
