Staffordshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was reportedly assaulted on a narrowboat on the Trent and Mersey Canal in Stone.
Police were called at around 4.55pm on Saturday 12 September following reports of an assault on the stretch of canal between Stafford Street and Canalside Car Park.
A man was reportedly assaulted on his narrowboat by another man.
Police said the suspect was described by witnesses as white, aged around 35, of slim to medium build, with brown hair and wearing a grey tracksuit.
He was reportedly seen approaching the canal via the path from Canalside Car Park and leaving in the same direction after the incident.
Officers are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was on the canal towpath or in Canalside Car Park between 4.45pm and 5pm on Saturday.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, saw a man matching the description or has CCTV, dashcam or mobile phone footage which could assist the investigation is being asked to contact police.
