St Dominic’s Catholic Primary School in Stone has received two Exceptional grades in its latest Ofsted inspection, with five other areas judged Strong Standard.

The Margaret Street school was inspected on 2 June, with the report published on 8 September.
Achievement and early years were both graded Exceptional.
Attendance and behaviour, curriculum and teaching, inclusion, leadership and governance, and personal development and wellbeing were all graded Strong Standard, while safeguarding standards were Met.
The results come under Ofsted’s new inspection system, which no longer gives schools a single overall grade such as Outstanding or Good.
Instead, different areas of a school are graded separately as Exceptional, Strong Standard, Expected Standard, Needs Attention or Urgent Improvement.
Ofsted says Exceptional is reserved for practice that is among the very best nationally, while Strong Standard identifies excellent and consistent work.
In the new report, inspectors said pupils make “remarkable progress” and highlighted the outcomes achieved by children at the school.
The report said
“Leaders take highly effective action to raise aspirations and ensure all pupils, including those who are disadvantaged, succeed.”
Inspectors also praised the school’s early years provision, describing it as providing a “calm, welcoming and highly stimulating start to school life”.
The school welcomed the findings and said
“This exceptional outcome belongs to everyone: our wonderful children, dedicated staff, supportive parents and carers, governors, parish, St Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Academy Trust and wider school family.”
The full inspection report can be read through St Dominic’s page on the Ofsted website.
St Dominic’s is also holding open morning sessions on Saturday 17 October. Anyone interested in attending can contact the school office at office@st-dominics-catholic.staffs.sch.uk.
