Stone Book Festival 2012

Stone Book Festival will be taking place between 2nd and 10th March in the town.

Events are lined up in Market Square and in the library – including a book market in the town centre with lots of stalls on Friday 9th March. There will be lots going on in local schools over the week too, with Alleyne’s High School’s book week running alongside the festival.

Alleyne’s student Viet Dam has designed the logo for the festival and a competition will be running throughout the week to name the bookworm, with book vouchers as prizes for the best names.

Here’s what’s going on over the week:

Friday 2nd March
Harriet Goodwin, author of The Boy Who Fell Down Exit 43 and Gravehunger, will be holding literacy workshops at middle schools in the town.

Saturday 3rd March

I don’t suppose there will be any opportunity for local poets to perform?

Hi , l like the idea, and ideas are the hardest thing to come up with, at the moment its a little festival on a budget and we welcome ideas for this event. We need more evening events for next book festival and I’m not sure if another will run next year or if they will be bi-annually, but poets performing would be great.

    • Great idea John – the organiser is local councillor Charlie Hearing. You can email her at
