Edward, six, in 113-mile charity ride!

Edward loves cycling - and he's going to raise lots of money for DLT

Edward Dyster is a remarkable six-year-old from Stone – he is cycling the 113 miles from Northampton to Tower Bridge in London to raise funds for the Donna Louise Trust.

Following a visit by the Trust to his school, Christ Church First, he asked his mum and dad if he could do a sponsored cycle ride from Stone to London in order to raise funds so the Trust – which runs the Treetops hospice in Stoke-on-Trent – could help more children.

His parents said no in no uncertain terms but eventually agreed to Edward starting from Northampton – where he was born – and taking a few days to complete the challenge.

Edward will be cycling with parents Steve and Emma and will be covering about 20 miles each day, starting on 31st May and finishing on 6th June. They’ll mostly be riding on the National Cycle Network route – with a break or two in the journey. Edward often cycles a similar amount each day – the challenge will be to keep doing it day after day.

Stone Rotary Club president Will Tonge knows a thing or two about sponsored cycle rides having recently completed the Coast to Coast Challenge. Once they heard about Edward’s plans, the town’s Rotarians agreed to contribute £200 to Edward’s sponsorship fund.
