Totally Locally – a campaign that encourages local people to shop in their local towns – launches in Stone on Saturday 23rd June with a great Totally Locally Day in the town centre.
Stone’s Totally Locally team will be in the Market Square on the day with information of the many special offers and discounts available from the independent shops and businesses in Stone, Walton and surrounding areas.
It is thought that around £3.5 million would go into the local Stone economy each year if every adult in the town spent a fiver in our local independent shops. It’s a campaign well worth supporting if you want to see our town centre thriving.
Jill Hood from the Totally Locally team explains more…
It’s all happening here in Stone and since we began setting up Totally Locally over 100 independent shops and businesses so far have joined forces to show what we have on our doorstep. We have many events planned for the year and hope when you discover the Hidden Gems on offer you’ll play your part in supporting and shopping Totally Locally. By making a small change in your spending you will be helping to create jobs and investing in the community and the future of Stone.
A Whitebridge Estate trader – Kevin Lapthorne of DFW – asked would he qualify to be part of Totally Locally. He lives in Stone and he employs locally so yes, he is exactly what Totally Locally is all about. Every type of flooring imaginable is available, with all the bits and pieces to go with it and best of all available to take away there and then. I thought of all the times I’d had to travel out of town to be told they could order in for me but it would take three weeks. I don’t want to wait, I want to spend locally.
On June 23rd there will be many offers and discounts available.Wikijum and Yarn Gathering will be giving a 5% discount. The restaurateurs have also come up with some really good offers to entice you to spend your money locally – a free bottle of wine for every four diners in one; in another, dine early and get 10% off your bill!
A restaurateur told me: “Yes, you may have to wait a little longer for your food but you won’t hear the ping of a microwave. All my food is cooked freshly, sourced locally and I employ local staff!” Another example of a Totally Locally hero.
Francesco’s Stone will be giving special offers to both their existing and new customers. Take a look at the board in the Royal Exchange in Radford Street. Landlady Michelle will be showcasing a map of local producers for her popular menu. It’s interesting to see that one of her producers supplies five other businesses in Stone.
By spending locally we can ensure the sustainability and permanence of our town. Our traders live locally, employ locally and they too shop locally. Just take a minute and think, ‘Did I spend locally this week?’. If not, remember: spend just £5 a week locally and you will be doing your bit for Stone. You too can become a Totally Locally Hero!
