Raffle prize appeal for charity fundraiser

Ouch! Sponsored leg waxing raised lots of money for charity at the last fundraising day

A family fundraising day for two very special charities is being held at Stone Cricket Club in October – and the organisers have appealed to local businesses to get behind them by donating a raffle prize.

Sharon Turner will be raising money for the Douglas Macmillan Hospice in Blurton and Stone’s Chernobyl Children’s Project, which brings cancer victims from Belarus to Stone for recuperation. Find out more about the Chernobyl Children’s Project in Stone in this brilliant guest post from organiser Margie Hislop.

Sharon’s fundraising day is being held on Sunday 14th October from 2pm at the cricket club in Lichfield Road. The day is still being put together but there will be lots of stalls, live music and food. Anyone who went along to Sharon’s last fundraising day last year will know what great events Sharon puts on – with the help of a lot of friends and family members!

She said: “The event is a ‘Party for Pat’. My dear friend Pat Devall lost her battle with cancer and was being treated by the Douglas Macmillan. Her wish was to pay them back for all their care and hard work and she asked me to hold a fundraising day in their honour, so I will fulfill her wish. We have also decided to help raise money for the Chernobyl Children’s Project, which does such amazing things.

“We really need the help of local businesses in Stone to help us raise as much money as we possibly can for these two fantastic charities.  If any businesses could donate a raffle prize, however small, we’d be so grateful.”
