St Dominic’s Priory School has been shortlisted for an award at the Independent School Awards 2012 in the Outstanding Governing Body of the Year category.
The Independent Schools Awards celebrate excellence in the strategic and financial management of the 2,500 independent schools across the UK. The awards will be held on November 14th at the National Motorcycle Museum near Birmingham. Sir Ranulph Fiennes will give a motivational talk and help present the awards.
St Dominic’s Priory School welcomes children of all faiths and provides for girls aged 18 months -18 years and boys to the age of 11. During 2012 the school was listed number 36 within the top 100 independent schools nationally at A-Level in The Independent newspaper. In 2011, the school was placed as the top school in Staffordshire for A-Level results and listed as sixth nationally in the Daily Telegraph’s listing of small schools with excellent A-Level results.
Chair of governors Michael Hughes said: “The governors of St Dominic’s Priory School are delighted yet humbled to receive such recognition, but it is our pupils, staff, PFA and parents who are the ones who are truly outstanding.”
Headteacher Mrs Pat Adamson added: “This news is just reward for the progress that the school has made recently under the direction of our new Board of Governors. Over the last 12 months we have established a new boarding facility, opened new Maths and Science blocks and recently taken ownership of a new minibus. Such investments in our school, coupled with the continued excellent high academic standards our pupils achieve, are key reasons why over 100 potential new pupils have visited the school over the last year. We look forward to welcoming many more at our forthcoming Open Day on Saturday 13th October.”
