‘Take Care and Be Aware’ is the message from Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire County Council this year as they launch their Halloween and Bonfire Night safety campaign.
Whether you are dressing up as a wicked witch, a scary spirit or a ghostly ghoul this Halloween or off out this Bonfire night Take Care and Be Aware!
The bright lights and sparkling delights of Bonfire night are exciting for many members of the community. But for some, the loud bangs and large groups of people can be quite scary and very intimidating. Also, if you are wanting to see a Bonfire or Firework display go to a safe organised event such as Stone Town Charity Bonfire or Shugborough Hall Bonfire.
Halloween can be harmless fun but some members of the community may find the loud noises and knocks on their door quite scary, especially if they live alone. When you are out trick or treating remember that some of the older or more vulnerable members of your neighbourhood will find this night quite frightening.
Above all, don’t get involved in things like criminal damage, throwing eggs and flour, dangerous firework misuse, violence, excessive alcohol or general nuisance behaviour. Anti-social behaviour like this is a crime and it will be reported.
If you are worried about anti-social behaviour around this time of year contact Operation Good Guy on 08454 02 03 34 or use your local non-emergency number: 101. However, in an emergency on Bonfire Night or Halloween use the normal 999 number.
