Band on the march for new members

Stone Scout and Guide Band is looking for new members as it looks to continue its strong traditions and enter more competitions in 2013.

The band is a traditional youth marching band with members from eight to 18 from Scout and Guide groups in and around Stone. It was formed in 1986 by Kath Pickering who, having been involved in Guiding for some time, wanted to bring together the local organisations and provide a fun activity for local youngsters. The band has played all over the UK and in 2005 took part in the Battle of Flowers Grand Day Parade in Jersey.

The band practises on Saturday mornings from 10am until noon at the Pump House on Westbridge Park and everyone is welcome – you don’t have to play an instrument or be able to read music to join up and start learning!
