West Midlands Ambulance Service has issued a statement after a pedestrian was involved in a road traffic collision (RTC) with a lorry on Christchurch Way in Stone.
The ambulance service confirmed that a pedestrian was blue-lighted by ambulance to a major trauma centre following a road traffic collision in Stone this afternoon.
West Midlands Ambulance Service received multiple 999 calls regarding reports of an RTC involving a pedestrian and a lorry on Christchurch Way, Stone. Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford, with a BASICS doctor and paramedic on board, attended the scene.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said:
“When ambulance staff arrived on scene, they found bystanders and an off-duty nurse providing first aid to a pedestrian, a woman, who had been involved in a collision with a lorry.
The woman, who was in a serious condition, received advanced trauma care from ambulance clinicians to stabilise her injuries before being conveyed by land ambulance on blue lights to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further specialist trauma care.”

Saw the whole thing- Firefighters on scene too. I counted one firetruck and one pickup truck. They looked off duty, only wearing overalls and t-shirts. They sorted the traffic and helped the Air Ambulance. What an awful scene to have to deal with. So much respect for all of the firefighters and paramedics on scene. Hope she is recovered xxxx

I was visiting Stone for the first time, with a friend, and witnessed all the commotion of the air ambulance arrival and the closed off roads. We hope the woman will make a full recovery. I must also say that I found the town and it’s population to be very welcoming and friendly.I will be back.

Such an awful accident. The person at the scene was an off duty prison guard though, not a nurse just in case there was any mis communication due to the severity of the scene.

I was in Stone at 12 noon on Tuesday and I witness a near collision because the road signs were confusing and I found a community police officer and told her she needed to do something because it was an accident waiting to happen but the signage was exactly the same the following day

Arrived seconds after hearing the accident happen, a horrendous scene. A dangerous bend where the path should be fully barriered both sides.
I hope the poor woman involved makes a full recovery.

I agreed, would also stop people walking into the road & get them using the traffic lights instead.
