A number of early morning noise complaints reported by residents across Stone have now been traced to a moped, which has since been seized by police.

Earlier this week, A Little Bit of Stone received messages from residents in the north of Stone who said they had been woken for the last few mornings at around 5.30 am by a loud noise that some initially described as sounding like a drone or microlight.
The reports were not limited to one street or neighbourhood. When we shared the concerns publicly, a large number of residents commented, saying they had heard the same noise across a much wider area, including nearby villages.
Cotwalton Dairy also reported hearing the noise, saying it spooked cattle in nearby fields during the early morning hours.
As the discussion developed, many residents suggested the sound was being caused by a moped with an unusually loud exhaust travelling repeatedly through the area.
On Thursday morning, the Staffordshire Road Policing Team confirmed they had located and stopped the vehicle following what they described as numerous community complaints between the Cotwalton and Cold Meece areas.
In a statement shared by the policing team, officers said the rider was not complying with the terms of his licence. The moped was seized under Section 165a of the Road Traffic Act.
Police also issued an Anti Social Behaviour Notice under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002.
The action brings clarity to several days of disturbance for residents across multiple parts of Stone.
