Aston Marina makes a splash with floating hotel suite

Aston Marina has launched its first on-site accommodation, a luxury wide-beam boat named Dragonfly, offering wedding couples and diners the chance to stay overnight on the water.

A new kind of overnight stay

Just outside Stone on the scenic Trent and Mersey Canal, Aston Marina has become a firm favourite for weddings and special occasions, but until now, guests have had to look elsewhere for a bed for the night.

That’s just changed with the arrival of Dragonfly, a 600-square-foot floating suite designed for comfort, romance, and a bit of canal-side magic. The stylish wide-beam boat offers plush overnight accommodation for up to four people and is now open for bookings.

A hotel suite on the water

Dragonfly is no ordinary boat. Designed to provide something closer to a 5-star hotel experience, she includes:

  • An open-plan living space with a fully equipped kitchen
  • A spacious double bedroom with views over the marina
  • A luxurious bathroom
  • Stylish interiors with thoughtful touches throughout

She’ll serve couples celebrating their wedding at Aston Marina, as well as diners looking to turn their visit into a stay.

A vision brought to life

Helen Clayton, director at Aston Marina, said:

“We regularly get asked about overnight accommodation and, while our plans for a proposed hotel are still under review, we decided to look to the water as a solution.”

“However, while narrowboats are charming, they offer restricted space and that didn’t quite fit the vision we had of effectively a floating 5-star hotel suite special enough for couples to spend their wedding night in. Dragonfly is the perfect solution – she offers some 600 square feet of accommodation… We can’t wait to welcome our first guests next month!”

Already in demand

Couples with weddings already booked at the marina have been offered early access to secure their stay aboard Dragonfly, and public bookings are now open.

It marks another step forward for the popular Staffordshire venue, which has continued to evolve since its opening. From the award-winning No.26 Bar & Restaurant with its popular dining domes, to versatile event spaces like The Boat House and The Hideaway.

Whether you’re tying the knot, enjoying a milestone dinner, or simply want a unique night away, Dragonfly could be your new favourite spot in Stone.
