Stone’s Big Issue seller Monica has been chosen to open the final Advent Window on Christmas Eve.
The final window will be opened at Christ Church, in Christ Church Way, on Friday 24th December at 11am. This will be preceded by a carol parade through the town which will stop at the other 23 Advent windows. It starts at 9.30am outside the Shelter shop in Stafford Street.
The church has chosen Once In Royal David’s City as its theme and project organiser Pam Pott said Monica, a familiar face in Stone town centre, would be opening the window.
Pam said: “We thought the town’s Big Issue seller, who everyone knows as Monica, would be the best person to open the window. She is a poor person who has travelled to a foreign country from Romania and struggled to find a home, but yet everyone knows of her. It sums up the Christmas story brilliantly.”
