Call for views on inconsiderate school parking

Staffordshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Matthew Ellis is asking people in Stone for their views on whether inconsiderate or disruptive parking outside schools is a problem.

Mr Ellis said: “Over the school summer holiday I want to get a clearer picture of whether there is an issue with school parking in some areas of Staffordshire and if so how that might be tackled in the future.”

Maybe they should look at the dangerous driving where I live as well. Drivers doing illegal U turns at traffic lights, HGV drivers steering with there knees whilst rolling a fag, drivers on there phones almost jumping the lights, motor bikes and cars using the A34 as a race track and it has happened as I write this. The speeds are atrocious and one day there will be a fatal accident outside my flat. These are NOT one offs they happen all of the time.

Old road stone near christ church , cars park on the junction frm mount road obstructing the vision of the vehicle turning on to Old road very dangerous

  • The parking around Christ Church First school and academy it’s dangerous at times. Also a major issue is the driving of people in these areas particularly around drop off and pick up times which have caused a lot of near misses where children and adults have been in real danger of serious injury or worse. Outside Christ Church First school it’s particularly bad for people suddenly pulling in to drop off children without the adults having to get out of the car and parking on double yellows or the zig zags. The really annoying bit is that parking wardens often sit and wait to ticket people on Margaret st who fall foul of the silly time difference restrictions there – which have little or no impact on road safety – but do not patrolwhere are needed There needs to be patrolled crossing installed outside Christ Church First school before a child is killed
