A Staffordshire Smart Alert has been issued about reports of parking issues around school drop-off and pick-up times.
Sarah Fordham, the Staffordshire Police PCSO for Stone, Barlaston, Fulford, Meir Heath and Blythe Bridge writes:
“We have been getting reports of issues at School drop off and pick up times around the Stone area, but we are aware that this can be a problem at most schools.
Please can we remind people to be extra careful around schools and think about the safety of the children when parking as a serious accident could happen purely due to people trying to get as close to the school as possible.
The safety of the children is paramount and this should not be ignored for the sake of saving someone a few minutes having to walk a bit further.
The reports also include people blocking drives of nearby residents. Please try to be more courteous and think about others when dropping off and picking up from schools.
Local officers will be patrolling the areas where operational demand allows and also local councils will be made aware.
Many thanks.

This is a real problem for residents in Cameron Wharf. At drop off and collection times vehicles are parked on the pavement in both directions when exiting Cameron Wharf, blocking the view for traffic in both directions. In addition numerous cars pull in to turn around, thinking it is their right to do so.
