The Keep Westbridge Park Green campaign group has called on Stafford Borough Council to clarify their plans for the park after a planning inspector labelled them ‘unsound’ in December.
Local independent town councillor Rob Kenney issued this statement on behalf of the group:
KWPG has been asked by residents to comment on the fact that the Planning Inspector has concluded that SBC’s proposals for Westbridge Park should be deleted from the Local Plan.
We obviously welcome this decision and believe that the Stone residents would appreciate SBC clarifying its current thinking over the future of the Park.
We hope that SBC will now focus on making improvements to the landscape and leisure facilities on the Park so that residents can enjoy the area for leisure and recreation as was intended when it was gifted to Stone UDC in the early 1950s.
We may comment further once SBC’s thinking is known.
