If Pokemon TCG and Dungeons and Dragons is your thing, or you’re interested to find out more, then a new gaming store coming to Stone later this month will be the perfect hideout for you!
Dan Fitchew has been a lifelong gamer and is now ready to open the Card Tavern, marking a transition from hobby to side hustle to full-time business.
We caught up with Dan to find where this magical new shop would be located and what it would have to offer the people of Stone.
As the quote goes: “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” Dan told us about his journey from hobbyist to business owner:
“I’ve been into gaming in one form or another my entire life. From collecting trading cards, trading them with my friends to playing tabletop games in small or large groups. My passion for gaming has grown and over the years I decided to turn it into a side hustle.
For the past three years, I’ve been working at Hylands Electrical in Stone, and they’ve been great in helping me start my business. You may have noticed that I’ve had a dedicated space in the front of Hyland Electricals window which has allowed me to get my foot onto the business ladder.
Having begun the climb up the ladder I’m now ready to take the leap and jump into my own dedicated shop unit and I’m really looking at creating something unique and special in Stone.”
Not being gamers ourselves we asked Dan to explain a bit more about what the shop will offer and what people could expect when they walk through the door.
Dan told A Little Bit of Stone:
“The number one priority is for the shop to feel welcoming and a safe place for people to come inside. Often there can be a barrier with hobbyist shops that we only cater for the die-hards but the Card Tavern will be welcoming to all.
We will be stocking a wide range of gaming supplies including popular items like Pokemon TCG, Magic the Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons.”
Dan went on to explain:
“I’m really excited to be opening in the heart of Stone. The shop will be in Granville Square, just to the right of Wetherspoons main entrance and handily by the bus stop.
The plan is to have everything ready for an opening around mid-October and we plan to be open from 12pm – 8pm most days.”
Card Tavern will be in the former Just Carla shop before it relocated onto the High Street.

I’m an eager collector and I’m constantly looking at selling cards to improve or spend more on different cards for my collection? I have a binder that is mainly Japenese and a few English.
