Stone’s Remembrance Sunday 2023: Honouring The Brave

Remembrance SundayDetails of the 2023 Armistice Service, annual parade, and Service of Remembrance have now been released, and once again, we plan to livestream the event.

Stone Town Council is supporting the Royal British Legion National initiative in observing
a two-minute silence at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

The War Memorial in Granville Square will host a short ceremony at 11:00 a.m., with traffic being halted, and a bugler will sound the Last Post and Reveille.

Members of the public are invited to join Town Councillors and members of ex-Service Organisations in remembering those who gave their lives for us.

On Sunday, the 12th of November, the Annual Parade, Services of Remembrance at the War Memorial in Granville Square and later at the Parish Church of St. Michael and St. Wulfad will occur.

The timeline for parade on Remembrance Sunday is as follows: –

  • 10.15 a.m. – Parade Personnel to assemble at the bottom of the High Street.
  • 10.35 a.m. – The parade, led by Stone Scout & Guide Band, will proceed along the High Street to the War Memorial, where the Florence Brass Band will play.
  • 10.45 a.m. – Presentation of Wreaths in accordance with an Order of Presentation.
  • 11.00 a.m. – Two Minutes Silence and Service of Remembrance.

At the conclusion of the Service at the War Memorial, the Parade will proceed to the Parish
Church of St. Michael and St. Wulfad via High Street and Church Street led by Stone Scout & Guide
Band, where the Colour and Standard Bearers are requested to line up at the entrance to the
Church, and when instructed, enter the Church, present their Colours, and then take the seats
reserved for them.

After the Church Service, the parade will disband and not proceed to Market Square.
