Residents are being urged to take extra care on Stone High Street after an uneven surface was reported following a fall.

A member of the public contacted A Little Bit of Stone to flag concerns about a section of the pavement near Co op Funeralcare and nearby shops. Based on a photo shared with us, the issue appears to relate to an inspection or drainage cover that has sunk slightly below the surrounding block paving.
The concern was raised after a relative tripped in the area and fell to the ground. They were not seriously injured, but were left sore and shaken. It was stressed that the fall was not linked to icy conditions, but to the uneven surface itself.
The photo shows the metal edged cover sitting lower than the surrounding paving blocks, creating a small but noticeable change in level. While not dramatic, it could easily be missed by pedestrians, particularly in poor light or when the High Street is busy.
The issue has now been reported to the council. An assessment visit is expected to take place within the next 10 to 14 days.
Stone High Street sees heavy footfall throughout the week, including from older residents and people visiting local services.
Residents passing through this section of the High Street are advised to take extra care while walking in the area.
