Chief condemns attacks on firefighters

Two attacks on firefighters in Staffordshire have been condemned by chief fire officer Peter Dartford.

The incidents took place in two different areas of the county, but Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service says it is unable to release specific details and locations due to ongoing investigations.

It is a role that our firefighters take extremely seriously. For a firefighter to be attacked by members of the community in which they serve is deeply shocking. Not only could these attacks have seriously injured a firefighter and prevented or delayed a crew from dealing with the incident they had been called out to, it could also have put members of the public’s lives at risk.[/box]
