Colourful carnival parade hits town

The rain failed to put the dampeners on Stone Festival’s parade and carnival on Saturday, with hundreds of people taking part in the parade and thousands watching and enjoying the carnival at Westbridge Park.

Schools, nurseries, sports teams, Brownies, pubs and lots more took part in the parade, which started from ABB in Oulton Road and headed for Westbridge Park via Radford Street, Christchurch Way and Stafford Street.

The Red Lion’s float looked like the best party in town, with a live band and regulars having a whale of a time! There were teddy bears’ picnics, cowboys and Indians, Star Wars characters, circus parades and much much more.

Westbridge Park was a hive of activity all afternoon, with an Elvis tribute, mountain bike stunt team, donkey rides, fairground and lots of Stone community groups raising their profile with the people of the town.

All in all, a great day!
