Staffordshire Day is returning on Friday 1 May, and organisers are hoping communities across the county will help mark the tenth anniversary with events of their own.

Now the question is whether Stone will be joining in.
The county council has issued a call for people, groups and businesses to organise activities across the Staffordshire Day bank holiday weekend, with ideas ranging from markets and guided walks to family activities, workshops and small community events.
That could open the door for something in Stone, whether that is a town centre event, a heritage-themed walk, a local market, or something smaller put on by a community group, venue or business.
Professor Elizabeth Barnes, Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire, said Staffordshire Day was a chance to celebrate the county and the people who make it special.
She said residents could use the occasion to bring communities together and showcase local creativity, heritage and talent.
This year’s celebrations will also include the launch of the Staffy Trail, a new public art trail featuring large Staffy dog sculptures placed around parts of the county.

The sculptures are due to appear in Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford and Tamworth, encouraging visitors to explore town centres and support local businesses.
Stone is not named among the locations for the trail, but the wider Staffordshire Day appeal is aimed at communities right across the county.
The county council is encouraging anyone planning an event that could appeal to visitors to add it to the official Visit Staffordshire website. Organisers of ten community events will also receive funded Staffordshire Day flags and other promotional material.
For Stone, it feels like a good moment to ask a simple question.
Will anything be happening here?
There is plenty in the town that could fit the spirit of the day, from community groups and independent businesses to local history, markets and family activities. With Staffordshire Day falling just ahead of the bank holiday weekend, there is also room for events to run beyond Friday itself.
Anyone planning an event that would appeal to visitors is encouraged to submit it on the official Visit Staffordshire website to help attract audiences from across the region and beyond.
