With the depths of winter all around at the moment and severe weather warnings being handed out across the country, it is hard to believe that anyone is preparing for the summer sun at the moment.
However, that is exactly what is happening at the Spencer Copeland Cricket Ground as Oulton Cricket Club are about to begin their preparations for the upcoming season.
The North Staffs South Cheshire League club are inviting all comers to have a go at cricket in 2014, as their winter nets get underway on Sunday 12th January at Sandon High School.
The sessions will run until the end of March and will be held from 10:30am through to 1pm, with junior sessions set to last an hour from 10:30 to 11:30. The club have stated that the sessions are open to all competitors from aged 15 and under.
Senior practice will follow the juniors at 11:30 and will run for the remainder of the time slot. This week’s juniors session will be free to all, then £2 a session after that. Senior practice will be £5 – this is priced this way so that the club can afford to keep utilising the fantastic facilities at Sandon High.
So, in the wake of the less than ideal England performance Down Under this winter, if you fancy yourself, your son or daughter as cricket’s next big thing, go along on Sunday to learn and compete in a friendly environment. Email oultoncc@hotmail.com for more information.
