February Stone Farmers’ Market cancelled in response to Covid-19 lockdown restrictions

Farmers Market CancelledThe popular Stone Farmers’ Market won’t have its first market of 2021 this February, as the council cancels the event to prevent Covid spread.

At the back end of 2020, the farmers market returned to Stone High Street, having temporarily relocated to Westbridge Park.

The farmers market takes a break each January but was scheduled to return on the first Saturday of February, the 6th.

In light of the recent tightening of lockdown restrictions Stafford Borough Council have issued the following update on the market.

“Following consultation with Stone Town Council a decision has been reached in that the Farmers’ Market scheduled for 6 February 2021will not go ahead.

The decision has been taken to prevent the spread of Covid – 19 during the current National lockdown.

The event scheduled for 6 March 21 will be continually reviewed and a decision will be made nearer the time whether to go ahead.

The market office will advise as soon as a decision is made.”

Despite the lockdown restrictions, market stalls selling “essential retail” would still have been allowed in a lockdown.
