On Friday 23rd May, Stone residents and business owners are invited to drop into Bod (on the corner of the Market Square) between 10:00am and 2:00pm to speak directly with the team behind the new Banking Hub project.

The session is an opportunity to ask questions and find out how the hub will operate once complete. There’s no need to book – just pop in at a time that suits you.

With planning permission now granted and refurbishment works already in motion, the hub will soon take shape in the former betting shop at 42–44 High Street. You can read our previous coverage on the submitted plans here:

What will the Banking Hub offer?

Banking Hubs are shared spaces that offer counter services for everyday transactions alongside private spaces for consultations with representatives from major banks, operating on a rotating schedule.

Stone’s new facility will:

  • Provide cash deposits and withdrawals
  • Offer support with payments, cheques and banking queries
  • Enable face-to-face appointments with banking staff from multiple banks

The aim is to make banking more accessible, especially for those who still rely on cash or prefer in-person support. It’s part of a wider rollout of hubs to support communities that have lost their last bank branch.

Drop-in session details

Venue: Bod Café, 40 High Street, Stone, ST15 8AU
Date: Friday 23rd May
Time: 10:00am to 2:00pm

As planning documents confirm, the approved scheme includes not just the hub but a small studio apartment to the rear of the premises, along with sympathetic upgrades to the building’s frontage in keeping with its conservation area setting.

The finished hub is expected to strengthen High Street access to essential financial services for years to come.
