First free parking day arrives this weekend for final 2025 Stone Farmers Market

The first of three free parking Saturdays is almost here for anyone heading into Stone during the run up to Christmas.

Farmers Market Free Parking

Stafford Borough Council’s festive parking offer starts this week, with charges waived across all council run car parks on Saturday 6 December. The same offer will return on Saturday 13 December and Saturday 20 December.

Stone has more than 250 council managed spaces, spread across short stay and long stay sites close to the High Street, Crown Street and the Crown Meadow side of town. For many residents this makes the early weekends in December a handy time to visit local shops or meet friends without watching the clock.

Borough council hopes to boost footfall

The council says the aim is to help ease costs for families and give a nudge to local trade at a busy moment in the winter calendar.

Councillor Aidan Godfrey said, “I hope this will encourage more people to eat, drink and shop in Stafford and Stone to support our local businesses and traders and make this an even busier time of the year for them.”

Deputy Leader Rob Kenney added, “We all have to support our local businesses, and I hope residents and visitors will take advantage of the free parking offer.”

What people need to know this weekend

Parking remains free for the whole day on each of the three Saturdays. Normal disabled bay rules still apply, and on street restrictions around the town centre are unchanged.

A list of all council run car parks is available on the borough council’s website.

Elsewhere in the borough, Stafford town centre has launched a festive treasure trail with golden crowns to find in more than twenty shops. Stone’s own events are also gathering pace as the Christmas market, late night shopping and school fairs begin to fill the diary.
