**Monday 26th Nov – A34 at Meaford now open in both directions**
These amazing pictures from around Stone today show the impact of the flooding in the town, especially at Meaford. Thank you to everyone who’s tweeted, Facebooked or emailed photographs today – I’m so grateful for your input. A Little Bit of Stone wouldn’t be the same without you.
The flood at Meaford developed in earnest between 12:30am and 5am this morning, with the first distress calls coming in to emergency services at around 5am. The flood had started on Friday but the heavy rains overnight made things a lot worse. Three people had to be rescued from vehicles that had got stuck.
There has been no official announcement on whether the A34 will be open on Monday morning. Given that there may well be more rain overnight, it’s best to avoid the area and plan alternative routes. The A520 Longton Road has been fine all day, so it’s a good bet for travel to and from Stoke-on-Trent.
As always, there will be regular updates on A Little Bit of Stone’s Facebook and Twitter profiles.
