Forgetfulness leads to fires

Firefighters were called to two houses in Stone last weekend after items that had been left on hobs caught fire in both properties.

On Friday 13th April, firefighters were called to what was believed to be a cooking fire in Albert Street at about 9.15pm. It turned out to be hot wax that had been left on the stove! Firefighters carried out a home fire risk check at the property before they left.

The next day crews were called to nearby Tunley Street at 6.45pm after neighbours spotted smoke coming from an upstairs window. A radio had been left on the hob, which had then accidentally been switched on. The fire was out on arrival.
