Free first aid courses for thousands

West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) has appealed for people in Stone to get free basic life support skills as it looks to train 60,000 people across the county in the next five years.

The free two-hour courses are aimed at anyone from the age of 10 and will cover various lifesaving and first aid techniques including CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), the management of severe bleeding, loss of consciousness, chocking and chest pain.

The project will be officially launched later this month.

Matt Heward, community response manager said: “Holding these free courses and providing the public with the confidence and a better understanding of what they should do in a medical emergency really could help to save lives.”
