Fundraising day at The Lamb

There’s a day of fundraising fun for a very good cause at The Lamb in Walton on Sunday 29th July.

Organisers are raising money for CDH UK which raises awareness of congenital diaphragmatic hernia and supports parents whose babies have been diagnosed (much more information at the end of this post).

The fundraiser is being held between 1pm and 6pm and there will be lots going on: live entertainment, Punch and Judy, an ice cream van, barbecue, tombola, raffle, face painting, sweet hunt and lots, lots more.

Congenital diaphragmatic hernia, or CDH, is a condition where a child’s diaphragm does not form properly during pregnancy, which can be detected during the 20-week scan. This causes organs from the abdominal cavity like the stomach to enter the chest cavity, preventing the lungs from developing properly. The blood flow through the lungs is highly prevented, causing respiratory distress.

CDH is a condition which affects one in 2500 children every year, and there is a 50% survival rate. CDH UK is an association founded in 2003 to raise awareness of this condition and provide support for families whose babies have been diagnosed.
