Good luck to Equipo, a team of young entrepreneurs from Alleyne’s High School, who will be representing the West Midlands at the national final of this year’s Young Enterprise competition in London on Monday (1st July).

Equipo beat off competition from across the West Midlands to book their place in the UK final after coming out on top previously at the Staffordshire final. Equipo came up with ‘Earbuddy’, a great product that keeps headphones from getting tangled up. The team were also highly commended for their commercial selling and creative marketing and have orders already in the pipeline from many local companies. Have a look at their website by clicking HERE.
The Young Enterprise programme helps young entrepreneurs aged 16 to 18 develop their business skills. The teenagers create their own company and sell their own products and services as part of the scheme. And teams from Alleyne’s High School have a hugely impressive record over the last few years. Last year, the Sock Tree Company from the school narrowly failed to make the national final. The previous year, Versaleaf went all the way to the final.
Each Young Enterprise team is mentored by a Business Advisor from the local business community. Sue Green from Stone has been working with Equipo – and is delighted with their achievement.
HR specialist Sue – who runs Evergreen HR – said: “The group have done exceptionally well and their success so far is testament to their hard work and raw talent. They are a highly driven and capable group who have come on leaps and bounds since they launched their company Equipo and their product Earbuddy and will rise to the challenge at the finals. I am very pleased to have been working with them as their Business Advisor.

Stuart Walton, chairman of Young Enterprise Stafford and Stone, said: “Equipo is the third team from Stafford and Stone to make it to the national finals in four years, which is a record achievement that we are all proud of. We are very proud of Equipo and wish them well at the finals.”
Staffordshire County Councillor Mark Winnington, Cabinet Member for Economy and Infrastructure, added: “This is marvellous news that Equipo have made it through to the national finals, a real achievement for them. These young entrepreneurs of today will be the business leaders of tomorrow, so it’s vital that they get the insight into how business works.”
Members of Equipo and other Alleyne’s Young Enterprise teams will be passing on their skills to Year 8 pupils at a special Enterprise Challenge at the school in July. More information on that HERE
