Groove Academy class is Strictly a hit!

Groove Academy’s Kate Beauchamp with Ian Waite

Stone-based Groove Academy is bringing a taste of Strictly Come Dancing to Staffordshire when they introduce a new ‘FitSteps’ class devised by professional dancers and a celebrity from the hit BBC show.

Kate Beauchamp, of Groove Academy, launched the first FitSteps class at Stafford Rangers on the 18th September from 8pm – and there will be a further class at Walton Community Centre on 23rd September from 7pm.

Created by Natalie Lowe, Mark Foster and Ian Waite of Strictly Come Dancing fame, FitSteps is designed to be easy to learn and has elements of 12 of the most popular ballroom and Latin dances.

In order to qualify to teach the course, Kate attended a workshop in Liverpool in which she received tutoring from the professionals, including ballroom and Latin dancing professional Ian Waite.

Kate said: “FitSteps is a great way to dance your way to fitness. For anyone who has always wanted to have a go at the fabulous dances they see on Strictly then this class can teach them the basics. You don’t need to be able to dance and you don’t need a partner so it’s ideal for anyone who wants to try some Strictly steps as well as being a great way of getting fit.”
