A student at Rooftop Studios Performing Arts School in Stone has landed a part in an upcoming fantasy adventure film, set to be released next year.
Hattie McLoughlin, aged 10, from Hixon, has been training at Rooftop – a branch of the Pop School and Stage Academy (PSSA) – for the past 20 months. Thanks to the PSSA’s connections within the London-based Brown and Mills Actors’ Agency, she was able to secure an ultimately successful audition for the film, beating off some stiff competition along the way.
Entitled Arthur and Merlin, the web-based film is a new take on the mythological adventures of the iconic 5th Century Celtic characters of King Arthur and the wizard Merlin, and will appeal to fans of the Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones franchises. Hattie is set to play the part of Young Nia in the film, which will feature as the flagship of an online platform launching in 2015.
Rooftop Studios director, Laura Keeling, was full of praise of Hattie and her recent success: “Everyone at Rooftop is absolutely delighted for Hattie in getting this role. The competition for parts such as these is extremely tough, but Hattie has worked really hard since she has been with us and she thoroughly deserves it. We all can’t wait to see the film next year.“
However, it’s not just Hattie who has seen her hard work pay off. Thanks to PSSA’s relationship with Brown and Mills, more and more Stone students are getting put forward for casting with some great success stories. PSSA offers intensive performs arts training for 3-18 year olds through age-specific classes on Saturdays at its Stone branch, Rooftop Studios.
