A Stone kung-fu club is becoming one of the most successful in the country after one of its members won two golds and a silver at the British championships.
Holly Cook, of Stone Lau Gar Kung Fu Club, won two gold medals and a silver at the British Kung Fu Association National Championships on 27th October.
Alec Clark, chief instructor at the Stone club, said: “Holly won three categories, beating off stiff competition in the adult open-hand forms, weapons and dual-man sets. She has helped to make Stone Lau Gar one of the most successful kung-fu clubs in the country.”
The annual event, held in Walsall, attracted several hundred competitors from across the UK.
Stone Lau Gar meets on a Monday evening at St Dominic’s Social Centre in Station Road, with a beginners’ class from 7.30 – 8.30 and an intermediate/advanced class from 8.30-9.30. Classes are suitable for all ages, with the youngest students starting at around seven years’ old and many parents and children training together. Beginners are welcome all year round.
