Local bands Honey Ryder, Live Wires and Phoenix are set to take to the stage in the impressive grounds of Sandon Hall on Thursday 19th May to raise money for the Soi Dog Foundation.
All the proceeds from the event will help fund the adoption and transport of rescued dogs to permanent homes in the UK.
Stone band Honey Ryder are riding high right now, enjoying well-deserved success with their latest album Born in a Bottle, national airplay on Radio 2, playing a number of festivals, and have been nominated in a number of categories at the prestigious British Country Music Awards. Their new single In A Heartbeat is released soon too, so could well be one of the tracks they’ll be performing during their set.
Their guitarist Matt Bishop (far right above) is also one quarter of pop and rock party band Live Wires, who specialise in music from the ’60s right up to the present day.
Girl duo Phoenix of Stone have also been making a name for themselves on the local gig circuit, with their vast repertoire covering genres ranging from ballads to rock, with tunes from the likes of The Beatles, Blondie, T Rex and the Stereophonics. Jackie and Linda have played many Stone events, including the various festivals, and the Christmas lights switch-on.
There will be a complimentary glass of wine on arrival, free tea and coffee as well as cakes donated by Bev’s Bakery in Stone.
Supplement your picnics with strawberries donated by Stone’s All Seasons, from 5-7pm, when the bar will be open and the music extravaganza will be getting off to a flying start.
Twelve tables, each able to accommodate eight guests, will be available, with savouries and biscuits supplied by Arden Fine Foods and Brecon Bakes. Tickets are priced at £25 each.
There’ll be a guest speaker and a select raffle, including a £100 cash prize. A number of raffle prizes have already been generously donated by local businesses. Offers of further donations, raffle prizes and sponsorship are welcomed.

Soi Dog Foundation’s Mission Statement
To improve the welfare of dogs and cats in Thailand, resulting in better lives for both the animal and human communities, to end animal cruelty, and to ultimately create a society without homeless animals.
Soi Dog Foundation is a not-for-profit, legally registered charitable organization in Thailand, the United States, Australia, the UK, France and Holland. Soi Dog helps the homeless, neglected and abused dogs and cats of Thailand, works to end the dog meat trade throughout the region, and responds to animal welfare disasters and emergencies.
Every year tens of thousands of dogs are inhumanely transported from Thailand to neighbouring countries where they are butchered by cruel and barbaric methods. However, the Soi Dog Foundation and the Thai government are actively working to end this appalling practice. The conditions under which the dogs are transported and slaughtered are inhumane and many die from suffocation long before they reach neighbouring countries. In reality these are the lucky ones. Those that are still alive are not humanely killed many are tortured often for hours before being skinned alive. The reason for this is that people believe that the pain inflicted leads to the tenderising of the meat. Most shocking of all, is that some dogs are still alive when their fur is removed.
Soi Dog with other animal welfare groups has presented draft legislation to the Thai Parliament for strong animal welfare laws to be enacted. This tragic trade is condemned by the majority of Thailand’s population. However the practice still continues. A number of dogs are now being rehomed in the UK thanks to Soi Dogs UK.
