Lichfield Road Community Speed Watch

Lichfield RoadA resident of Flax Croft is hoping to set up a Community Speed Watch group for Stone’s Lichfield Road area.

Group volunteers will monitor vehicle speeds at predetermined locations using a hand-held device and pass on the data to the police for further processing. The objective is to make the Lichfield Road a little safer, particularly for younger people on foot and bike.
Tim Hodson of Flax Croft says
“We are looking for volunteers who, after some initial training can give maybe half an hour of their time each week. The more volunteers means less individual commitment together with an increased scope of activity.”
Tim added
” the majority of Lichfield Road motorists drive with care and consideration but there are some road users that need a reminder that this is a 30mph zone from the High Street all the way past the Little Stoke area”.
If you feel able to assist, Tim can be contacted at 9flaxcroft@gmail.com Offers of assistance will then be passed on to the Speed Watch Coordinator so the new group can get underway.
More general information on Community Speed Watch and other activities can be seen on www.staffssaferroads.co.uk

how many accidents have their been on LIchfiled road in the past 5 years? If Stone wasn’t such a bottle neck on the A34 most of the traffic would never use LIchfield road.

If there was any money to be made by the council or police they would have a full time speed camera in place, as it is they are quite happy for you to have your little radar gun and take all the abuse from fed up motorists.

    Good luck with that.
