Drivers are being warned of disruption along Stone’s Lichfield Road this July, as resurfacing work moves into its final phase.

Fresh signage has gone up confirming no parking restrictions on both sides of the road on Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th July, between 8am and 8pm. The work is part of Staffordshire County Council’s ongoing highway improvement programme.

Published on one.network, the closure notice confirms a closure of Lichfield Road for final surface treatment along the entire stretch, from the Christ Church Way junction to the traffic lights by The Three Crowns.
The work follows the significant patching and prep repairs carried out earlier this year. At the time, drivers experienced delays due to rolling closures and temporary traffic lights. Now, with a full top coat planned, the road is expected to be shut for up to three days within the two-week window, weather permitting.
The work instruction state:,
“Weather permitted mobile Highway Repair and Maintenance works. Road will only be closed for three days within the date window to allow works to take place (dates are subject to change within the date window due to weather and resource implications).”
The closure is likely to impact access to several key sites, including:
- St. Michael’s First School
- Fairways Service Station
- Lichfield Road’s key commuter and shopper route into town
While exact closure days are yet to be confirmed, the scale and location of the works mean delays are inevitable for residents, school traffic, and visitors heading in or out of town.
We’ll continue to monitor the disruption and share updates as best we can.

Nothing new there then, the one thing Lichfield Council get right every time, make life inconvenient for the motorists
Well done

Errmm…this isn’t Lichfield district Council information, it’s Staffordshire County Council & is in reference to roads in STONE not Lichfield.
We’ll have our turn though, looking at all the white highlight marks on Burton Road, Streethay.
