This year’s Stone 10k was won by a runner from Liverpool who clocked an impressive time of 32:28 in a race that organisers are saying was the best yet.
The St Michael’s road race took place on Sunday 24th June and was won by Ricky Challinor from Liverpool Harriers, with Kim Fawke from Telford AC winning the women’s race. An impressive 511 runners took part in the event.
This year, a team from North Wales took part in a special challenge against a Staffordshire team, with the North Wales runners coming out on top. Local schools also entered relay teams – and there was the usual children’s fun run in the associated St Michael’s First School summer fayre. Olympic torchbearer Rita Banks from Stone Master Marathoners was at the summer fayre, where people could give a donation to the school’s Kenya school campaign in exchange for a photo of themselves with the torch.
