Long-standing readers of A Little Bit of Stone may remember that we featured several amazing articles in 2015 about cycle-touring from local man Gordon Taylor – He cycled 3,800 miles across the USA that year!
Gordon took his bike from Seattle to Boston, and his weekly articles, about the places on the route and the people he met, kept us all intrigued.
It’s absolutely brilliant to hear that Gordon has now written a whole book, “Lots of Latitude” about his cycle-touring adventures – covering a score of journeys from 2004 onwards. The book has been printed locally, in full colour, by Panda Press Ltd, and is now available to purchase.
Gordon told A Little Bit of Stone:
“The USA was always my favourite country for solo cycle-touring – especially away from the coasts on the big central plains, but other long rides such Sydney to Perth across Australia were also very memorable.
Less-developed countries such as Ukraine, Moldova and Cambodia were unfailingly friendly and fascinating, even if the journeys were sometimes tough.”
Gordon added, “Panda Press have produced a stunning 240-page book with hundreds of clear photographs. I’m very pleased with the writing and proud to have got it finished at last!”
Although Gordon has retired and stopped touring for the moment, he’s an e-bike convert and you might see him buzzing up and down to Barlaston twice a day, where he now works as the Lollipop Man!
The books are £19 each, with every penny of profit going to the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association. If you’d like to buy one, please contact Gordon directly on gordont246@gmail.com. Delivery (by arrangement) is free in Stone and Barlaston.
