A donation point has been set up on Stone High Street for people wishing to donate items to Afghan refugees arriving in the UK.
Stonefield and Christchurch town Councillor Steve Walley told A Little Bit of Stone:
“People escaping the crisis in Afghanistan are arriving in the UK with virtually nothing.
We can’t even begin to imagine what a difficult and traumatic experience moving to a new country under these circumstances must be. They desperately need our help right now. If you would like to show your support to these refugees, we have set up a donation point at the bottom of Stone High Street.”
Address: 6 Stone High St, ST15 8AW – The collection point is located on the intersection with Stafford Street at the bottom of the High Street. There will be a large A-Frame outside indicating the location of the donation point.
Donations can be made Monday-Friday between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm, please contact Steve Walley by email to drop off donations outside the normal opening hours: steve.walley@stonetowncouncil.gov.uk
These donations will go to the Afghan Community & Welfare Centre but if any other local centres need help, please let Steve know by email.
WHAT IS NEEDED: Clothes, Shoes, Blankets, Toys, Rice, Lentils, Beans, Dried Food, Cutlery and other household essentials.
