If you’re male and over 50, Stone Lions would love to see you at an event at the Stone House Hotel at the end of September.
On Tuesday 29th September, the Lions are hosting a Prostate Awareness Event at the Stone House Hotel. Men over the age of 50 will be given the opportunity to undergo a simple blood test, carried out by professional phlebotomists in order to detect early prostate cancer which is still in the curable stage. The tests are carried out with the full co-operation of both Cumberland and Mansion House surgeries.
Registration is from 5.30pm, with tests taking place between 6pm and 8pm.
Retired consultant urologist David Baxter-Smith will be at hand to answer any questions, and the bar will be open for restorative drinks and socialising.
Confidentiality is guaranteed.
Blood samples will be forwarded to the laboratory for analysis, with results forwarded to participants by post. If there is a need for further action, those affected will be advised to contact their GP. Stone Lions are merely acting as facilitators for this event, and will have no further involvement once the evening is over.
The event is funded by Stone Lions Club Welfare Account, with help from sponsorship from a number of local businesses and individuals, including Staffordshire County Council Community Fund, Stone Town Council and the Stonehouse Hotel.
Tests are offered free of charge, but any donations on the night would be most welcome and could help Stone Lions make this an annual event. There is no need to make an appointment, simply turn up on the night. It could save your life.
