Off-duty firefighters helped paramedics free a man in his twenties from his overturned car in Swynnerton this morning (10th November).
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Yarnfield Road in Swynnerton shortly before 8am today.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “The driver was released from his car and assessed and monitored by ambulance service clinicians at the scene. He was found to have bruising to his chest, a neck injury and a suspected spinal injury. He was immobilised with the use of a spinal board and neck collar and given pain relief before being taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital.”
UPDATE
The man who was freed from his car this morning – Jay Turnbull – posted on our Facebook page this afternoon from hospital to thank the people who had saved his life.
He said: “I would like to thank everyone who was involved in freeing me and saving my life this morning. I really want to find out the firefighters’ names. I owe it all to them and the other emergency services. I would love to find out who they are so I can meet them. Also, a man called Michael and a lady called Camilla stopped and sat with me this morning. I would love to thank them too.”
