A man was taken to hospital with multiple injuries after being hit by a train near Stone station on Sunday evening (7th September).

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed to us this afternoon that it was called to the scene at 8.35pm. An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic area support officer, the Hazardous Area Response Team and a BASICS doctor were dispatched to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Ambulance crews arrived to find a man who had been in collision with a train. The man was treated at the scene for serious multiple injuries. Due to the nature of the man’s injuries, the doctor gave the patient an anaesthetic at the scene before he was conveyed to the major trauma centre at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire. The doctor travelled on board the ambulance, with the crew continuing to provide emergency medical treatment whilst en route to hospital. The hospital had been pre-alerted and medics were on standby.”
