Lots going on at St Dominic’s Priory School

It’s been a busy start to the summer for St Dominic’s Priory School, here’s what’s been happening:

Sailing:

St Dominic’s Priory School in Stone has now introduced sailing as another thrilling activity for the children to take part in.

The pupils have already been on several sailing adventures, including a fun-filled trip to Rudyard Lake near Leek at the beginning of term. With more sessions scheduled, the pupils are looking forward to a school calendar filled with sailing fun!

 Eco Garden:

The Eco Garden at St Dominic’s Priory School in Stone is nearly in full bloom after a busy Spring of planting seedlings and weeding in preparation for the warmer weather.

The Eco Garden and new Eco Classroom have provided pupils with a wonderful array of activities, including a chance for the Eco Club to take part in the 35th annual RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch. The Birdwatch is a fun project which invites everyone to count all the different species of birds they can find in their garden. Nearly half a million people took part this year, including our Prep School!

A willow sculptor came into school as part of the WWF Earth Hour Day. Earth Hour is an event which is held worldwide annually, encouraging individuals, communities, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour on the last Saturday in March, as a symbol for their commitment to the planet.

The Eco Garden represents a part of St Dominic’s contribution to this commitment, which now includes a wonderful living Willow tunnel which will feature in the garden for years to come.
