What we are doing
We need to update you on a change in dates for work taking place on the A34 Fillybrooks, including Trent Road. This work involves pavement coring, bore holes, trial pits on and off the highway. We will excavate below ground to provide us with samples and allow us to view the structure and record the layout of land.
When the work will take place
These works will now take place from Monday 12 December to Friday 13 January 2023 between 9pm and 5am. Please note that all our planned roadworks may be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
On Monday 12 December to Friday 16 December from 9pm to 5am we need to close the A34 northbound between the Stafford roundabout and the double roundabout.
On Monday 19 December to Wednesday 4 January 2023 from 9 pm to 5am we need to close the A34 northbound between the Stafford roundabout and the double roundabout. During this week we will also be closing the outside lane on the southbound carriageway.
On Thursday 5 January 2023 to Friday 13 January from 9pm to 5am we need to close the A34 southbound between the double roundabout and Stafford Road roundabout. During this time, we will also be closing Trent Road.
Between Friday 23 December 2022 and Monday 2January 2023, the site will shut down for the festive break and all traffic management will be removed from site. If you have a question about HS2 or our works, please contact our HS2 Helpdesk team on 08081 434 434 or email hs2enquiries@hs2.org.uk
How will this affect you
We recognise this maybe be frustrating and by working overnight this is the safest and least disruptive way of completing our survey work. The route has been chosen as a suitable route for all vehicles, please allow approximately 20 minutes for your journey during this time. We will put a signed diversion route in place on the evenings of the road closures.
As part of the work, we will use machinery and equipment that may generate some noise throughout our time on site, we will work to reduce the impact on properties.
How we will minimise disruption
We will work hard to minimise the impact of these works. We will maintain access for properties within the traffic management area. Please be patient while we secure the work area to guide users in and out safely. For access to both the Wayfair Pub and Stone Golf Club, an alternative signed route will be displayed via Yarnfield Lane. We will also carry out the following:
Switching off vehicle’s engines when not in use. Obtain permission from Staffordshire County Council to avoid clashes with other roadworks in the area to prevent delays. Restore work areas to their original condition and work hard to complete the work safely and as quickly as possible.
