Parents are meeting with the chair of trustees at St Dominic’s Priory School in Stone today (Thursday 27th January) as they continue their fight to save the school from closure.
Mark Burton from the Parents’ Action Group says a lot has been achieved in the last 48 hours, including a meeting with the school bursar to discuss the school’s finances and discussions with a specialised firm of solicitors.
The independent school in Station Road has to find new backers after its founders unexpectedly withdrew their funding last week. The English Dominican Congregation, which has run the school since it was founded in 1934, blamed falling pupil numbers for its decision. The school is facing closure in the summer unless alternative funding can be secured.
