People in Stone are being advised to plan their journey if heading away for Easter and use live traffic information for the latest on the roads.
Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet support member for highways and transport, Mark Deaville, said busy bank holiday roads could face greater pressure as a result of rail engineering works. He has urged people to check live travel information and check rail services with engineering work scheduled at Norton Bridge and south of Wolverhampton over the holiday period.
No trains will be stopping at Stone over the bank holiday weekend.
Staffordshire is one of many councils and utility companies which now feeds all of its works information into the Roadworks.org website, meaning people can view the latest updates across the county and nationally. The site lets people know where work is taking place, at what times, who is carrying it out how it affects traffic flow. It also provides live traffic flow information, enabling people to avoid congested areas or plan more time for their journey.

It’s a good idea for people to plan their journey in advance. The Roadworks.org website is simple to use and gives all of the latest information about what’s going on across Staffordshire’s road network, including trunk roads and motorways. It also shows traffic flow so people can see which roads are busiest. We want people travelling over the weekend to have stress-free journeys and accessing the latest information could help.”[/box]
