Pop-up rapid Covid testing available at Stone Farmers’ Market this Saturday

Stone Farmers’ Market returns to Stone High Street this weekend and there’ll be a pop-up rapid Covid testing station at the top of the High Street.

The popular Stone market returns this weekend with measures in place to ensure we have a market that complies with the Government Covid-19 guidelines including signage to remind people about social distancing and track and trace QR codes.

Staffordshire County Council will also be providing a pop-up rapid covid testing station:

  • When: Saturday 1 May
  • Time: 10am to 4pm
  • Where: North end of the high street outside Hylands
  • No booking required

People can get a rapid test onsite and pick up home testing kits to use twice weekly. Everyone in Staffordshire is still encouraged to get tested twice a week, even if they have had the vaccine.

The popular market usually takes place on the first Saturday of each month. But it will be a first for the market in 2021 – with events previously earmarked this year being cancelled to help reduce the spread of Covid-19.

Robert Simpson, Head of Operations at the Borough Council, said:

“We are very pleased that the Farmers’ Markets will be returning to the area this weekend. Measures will be in place to help make the market safe for our stallholders and visitors.”

The layout for the market has been released, with the Market Square utilised to ensure adequate spacing around stalls.
